As per the screenshots, the feature tracker has shared that there’s an option to turn on or off the new feature in Privacy settings inside the app. There’s a new setting in the settings- Allow camera effects which can be enabled or disabled. According to the text of the feature “To give you a more interactive experience, some effects will mimic your face and hands.”.

Describing further, the feature would be accessible when using the camera to click pictures or for video calls. Revealing the tracker of features, some of these effects turn out to be given automatically depending upon the facial expressions of users, hand gestures, and movements, and so on. Others are said to be applied manually using options visible on the display.

Though said to be controlled directly from the privacy settings, the feature can also be enabled or disabled directly from the camera screen and video call interface for easy access by the users. The feature tracker also pointed out that the effects on the camera do not compromise any encryption protocols and that video calls, even when turned on, remain end-to-end encrypted.
